How is Full-Scribe work performed?
In a nut shell, peeled round logs are stacked horizontally with each log cut to match the one below it. This is accomplished by using scribes which trace the contour of the top of the bottom log to the bottom of the top log. A chainsaw is then used to rough cut the scribe line followed by a small hand axe to remove the remaining material. Because of our commitment to the art of log home building, our crafters use the time-proven technique of overscribing. This ensures that the log walls we construct remain weather tight without the use of chinking. Overscribing is the only means in which to properly deal with the inevitable settling process all log homes undergo.
