If your first concern is cost, and you have a competent and experienced log home builder, or you’re capable of assembling the necessary logwork yourself, you might consider a Random Length Milled Log Package. This package includes enough lineal footage of logs for the log walls of the home per the plans and the correct number of saddle notches for the corners per the plan specifications. Other log components for the home, such as log second floor and roof beams, log posts and log stairs and railings, can also be provided. Wall logs and other log components require on-site cutting and trimming by either the homeowner or experienced log builder. Although this package is the least expensive, it requires the most on-site construction.
